Why get a clunky, wooden swing when you can get the lighter, busier models offered today? Because it looks good! Of course, the aesthetics are lost on babies, but the classic wood design and natural, neutral-toned fabrics make it a real show piece in the nursery. For babies (up to 25 lbs.), 10 cherubic musical scores and three reclining positions (complemented by a full head rest), make it a pleasure to sit in. Varying textures to touch, a mirror, a plush toy bar, and a charming bell add to its appeal--unless kids associate the bell with ‘service’. A few things to consider, however: there’s no volume control, and if baby needs a nap you’ll have to turn the swing off. Also, natural wood means the swing is heavier than usual, as well as more difficult to store, even though it folds like a folding chair. Adult assembly is required. --Diane Beall
